About Your Therapist – Lucy

Lucy Adamson
Registered Member MBACP

I have been practicing as a psychotherapist for 21 years with experience in the areas of addictions, young people, adult therapy, and chronic pain and stress illness recovery both short and longer term.

I believe in a holistic approach taking into account all areas of the individuals needs to balance your life and to help demystify any problems or issues you may be experiencing.  I encourage relaxation techniques alongside talking therapy to address past traumas to help make life easier for you to ground you whilst dealing with difficult emotions and problems you may be encountering.  This way it makes your issues more easy to cope with and to discover a new way of being.

I qualified with a BSc in Psychology and then did a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, but have added mindfulness training and other strands of therapy to make my practice more integrative to help with a wider range of presentations.  I continue to attend many personal and professional development courses to maintain a high level of up to date knowledge.  This is passed on to my clients in our work together.

I am also qualified to offer EMDR as part of a therapy package; and am a qualified SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners Association) Practitioner, and have a growing interest and experience in the area of chronic conditions having recovered from chronic back pain myself.

I enjoy swimming in the sea, walking my sausage dog, yoga, tai chi and mindfulness to relax.
